Emporia State University is known for its AACSB-accredited School of Business and its top-ranked Teacher’s College. Putting these two together with a degree in business education will ensure your success as a middle and secondary school teacher of business and computing. Now is a great time to pursue this career since many small and large schools in Kansas report a steady demand for licensed business teachers, and Emporia State University is one of a very few universities in the state to offer a program that prepares licensed business teachers.
The business education teaching field is designed to prepare students to teach business and computer subjects at the junior high and secondary levels in such specialized areas as accounting, business law, computer applications, desktop publishing, entrepreneurship, keyboarding, office procedures, personal finance, and general business.
During the past five years, numerous positions have been open for business and computer teachers in Kansas. Business teaching and other career opportunities from across the state are listed with ESU's Careers Services Department. Job Fairs held on campus make it easy for business education students to pursue opportunities with a wide variety of public and private school districts in Kansas and other states.
The student teaching experience is the last semester of the program and may be fulfilled in the Emporia area or at a school within 100 miles of Emporia.
