 Mr. Ed Eilent, featured speaker at the 2007 School of Business Honors Banquet
Mr. Ed Eilert graduated from Emporia State with his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science degree in Business Education. While attending ESU, he served as President of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity for two years and was a charter member of the ESU Chapter of Blue Key National Leadership Fraternity. Mr. Eilert also served as President of Delta Phi Epsilon for one year. Upon graduation, he began his business teaching career at Lebo High School then moved to Shawnee Mission East High School. Following his stints in teaching, Bache & Company hired him to serve as a Financial Consultant. He was also appointed to the Board of Directors at Metcalf Bank. He is currently working as a Financial Consultant at A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc.
Mr. Eilert served six terms as the Mayor of the City of Overland Park. He was elected to the Overland Park City Council, Ward 2, and was President of the City of Overland Park Council. He is currently Johnson County Commissioner-Fourth District.
Mr. Eilert has received many awards for his accomplishments. He has been awarded the Eagle Award, Emporia State University?s Distinguished Alumni in 2003, Sigma Tau Gamma Distinguished Achievement Award, League of Kansas Municipalities? Excellence in Local Government Award, and Blue Valley School District?s ?Friend of Education?. The Overland Park Chamber of Commerce awarded him the OP Award, and Overland Park South Rotary Club rewarded him the Vocational Service Award. He?s also received the Downtown Overland Park Partnership Community Service Award, Overland Park Police Department Legacy of Excellence Award, and the UCS (United Community Services of Johnson County) Distinguished Public Service Award. Mr. Eilert was named the Johnson Countian of the Year by the Johnson County Community College Foundation.
Mr. Eilert is a charter member of South Overland Park Rotary Club, Overland Park Historical Society, Overland Park Arboretum, and Elder and Former Chairman of the Board of Overland Park Christian Church. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Overland Park Heritage Foundation and Kansas Business Hall of Fame.
