 Accounting and Information Systems Department Honors Banquet hosted by Beta Alpha Psi
The first annual Beta Alpha Psi Banquet was held Friday, April 27th in the Kanza Room in Memorial Union at Emporia State University. Beta Alpha Psi leaders initiated seven new student members and appointed four new officers. The Dinner was orchestrated by Carrie Donham and conducted by Ross Berry. The ESU chapter of Beta Alpha Psi was formed through the efforts of several faculty, most notably Dr. George Durler.
Beta Alpha Psi is the International Honorary Organization for Financial Information Professionals. Traditionally, it is best known as the honorary accounting fraternity, but all accounting, finance, and information systems majors who meet the qualifications are welcome. Members must be at least juniors with a grade point average of 3.0 or above. Beta Alpha Psi is an active organization that provides a bridge for students to their professional lives through various programs and community service.

Mr. Gary Allerheiligen was the featured speaker of the evening. Mr. Allerheiligen, CPA, is a partner of Grant Thornton and is the former managing partner for the Wichita office. He has over 30 years of experience in public accounting specializing in the area of taxation. His practice includes general tax planning and counsel with a specialization in benefits and deferred compensation A graduate of Emporia State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, he is a member of the School of Business Advisory Council and a former member of the Accounting Advisory Council. He is on the Boards of several community groups including the Orpheum Center for the Performing Arts, Forward Wichita, Inc. , local chapters of the MS Society, and Wichita Grand Opera.
