About the Program

If you are interested in marketing, you will find the Emporia State University program gives you a comprehensive business foundation that prepares you for a specific career in marketing. The marketing curriculum emphasizes the right mix of theory and practical skills to give you a broad understanding of marketing and business.

In your studies, you will first build a solid business foundation with courses in accounting, finance, management, and computer information systems. At the same time, you will take specialized courses in "Advertising," "Consumer Behavior," "Marketing Research," and "Marketing Management".

The marketing program also allows you the opportunity to select electives such as:

  • Personal Selling
  • Sales Management
  • International Marketing
  • Marketing Logistics
  • Promotional Marketing
  • Special Topics in Marketing
  • Intermediate Microeconomics
  • International Economics

In addition to your academic studies, you will have a chance to gain on-the-job experience through two programs offered by the University.

The Cooperative Education program places you in a position related to your marketing major. You not only gain valuable hands-on experience, but also receive credit toward your degree and earn money for your education. Positions are available in Emporia and surrounding areas.

You may want to participate in an internship coordinated through the School of Business. Emporia State's business internship program has an excellent relationship with business throughout the state. Either program may provide avenues to permanent employment.
