Our program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). This prestigious distinction is held by less than one fourth of the business schools in the United States. Our curriculum and our faculty are regularly reviewed by deans of other accredited schools to ensure the excellence of the program. This means you can have confidence in the quality of your education. It also means that employers will place a higher value on your degree and have greater confidence in your ability.
You can complete the program by taking classes in the evening, allowing you to work during the day. The campus is located in Emporia, just a short distance from highway I-35. In the evening, parking is available adjacent to the building where classes are held.
Although the program's excellence has been validated by AACSB International, our program is less expensive than many programs that do not have AACSB International accreditation. For the fall semester 2002, part-time tuition is $129 per credit hour for residents of Kansas. Nonresident tuition is $338 per credit hour.
Each year, the School of Business offers a number of graduate assistantships to qualified students. Graduate assistants also may be eligible for reduced fees. In addition, Emporia area industries and businesses are especially cooperative in offering employment to graduate students. Information about financial aid and employment is available from the ESU Office of Financial Aid and Office of Student Employment. Applications for graduate assistantships should be sent to the Office of Graduate Studies and Research.
The program is of modest size, with less than 100 students enrolled. Classes typically have 15 to 20 students. This means that you will have easy access to your professors. Most of your professors will know your name.
The culture at ESU is student-centered. Teaching is given the highest priority. This means that although our faculty are well qualified and perform research, they give priority to their teaching. You will find that the professors are sincerely interested in helping you learn.
The professors who teach MBA courses are members of the graduate faculty. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, many faculty work actively as consultants to businesses, government agencies, and educational organizations. They conduct research, publish papers, and are leaders in various professional organizations. In addition, many faculty have authored or coauthored articles and textbooks. These different professional activities bring a high level of intellectual excitement and realism to the classroom.
