Careers for the Future

The demand for IS graduates continues to be high, and the long-term future of IS professions is bright. Starting salaries are, on the average, the highest of any of the business majors, and among the highest of all college graduates.

The IS major provides diverse career possibilities. IS graduates find jobs in virtually every area of business, government, and education, with opportunities in small or large firms involved in regional, national or world-wide trade. ESU graduates have found exciting professional positions with

ESU's IS graduates are among the most sought after in the field. Annually, many businesses and government agencies send recruiters to campus to interview students. Recruiters hire ESU students because they know our students are well prepared, talented, and highly motivated.

Information Systems Managers - This is a primary career field for IS majors in a business school: planning, directing, or coordinating information systems development.

Computer Information Systems Staff -These are the entry-level and career path positions leading to information systems management positions for  IS majors. Information Systems and Computer Science majors compete for many of these positions, but the preparation is different. IS focuses on business application and has stronger business knowledge with an aim to promote rapidly from these staff areas into management positions.

Computer Systems Analysts -Analyze business, and all other data processing problems for application to electronic data processing systems. Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems.
