On Friday, May 8, from 3-5 p.m., the School of Business held a Retirement Reception for BAE Department Chair and Management Professor, Dr. Bill Smith, who retires after 15 years at ESU. The reception was held in the Koch Lounge, Cremer Hall.

The reception was well attended by faculty, staff, administration, and Flint Hills area residents who have worked with Dr. Smith over the years.
Shown below is a picture of the latest graduating class from the program Training for Managers. This is a customized program for mental health professionals to help them enhance their management skills. Participants for this program come from all over the State of Kansas to complete 50 hours of training in a variety of management topics. This is the third time Emporia State University and the Mental Health Centers of Kansas have partnered to provide this training.

This is the graduating management training class of 2009.

From time to time, faculty members of the BAE Department are asked to speak at meetings of service clubs in the area.

Each semester, the BAE Department and the Center for Business and Economic Development conduct Training sessions for local and regional businesses and organizations tailored to their special interest and needs. Sessions are normally conducted in the Roe Cross Conference Room of Cremer Hall. Mr. Bill Barnes plans and coordinates the training activities.

Specifically, four panelists were giving the participants an overview of what is happening in the mental health arena in Kansas from the perspective of different funding and oversight agencies and its impact on local mental health centers.
