EMPLOYEE TUITION & FEES

Emporia State University
(Tuition and Fees Policy approved by
Budget Development and Tuition Committee)

REGENT’S INSTITUTION EMPLOYEES’ FEE POLICY

IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE

Regent’s Institution employees will be assessed tuition at the rate established in the Comprehensive Fee Schedule.  If the employee is enrolled full-time, the full-time rate for tuition will be assessed.  If the employee is enrolled part-time, the part-time rate for tuition will be assessed.  Employees will also pay the Lifelong Learning electronic media fees for Telenet, Internet and ITV.  Employees will receive an exemption for campus privilege fees and Lifelong Learning area fees regardless of the number of hours taken.

A Regent’s Institution employee in a benefit eligible position with an appointment of at least 50% time or equivalent will receive the fee exemption.  The fee exemption is applicable only during the employee’s appointment.  An Application for Kansas Regents Employee Fee Exemption form must be completed to receive the fee exemption.  Sections A & B of the form must be completed by the Office of Human Resources.  The completed form must be turned in to the Office of Business Affairs as noted on the form.

Employees will be encouraged to enroll in classes held at times other than the hours covered by the employee’s work schedule.  This would include evening classes, Internet classes and Saturday classes.

Enrollment in classes held during the employee’s normal work hours requires the approval of his or her supervisor and department chairperson.  We should try to accommodate an employee’s request for taking courses.

We will not excuse the employee from the forty-hour work week requirement.  A revised work schedule by days, approved by the supervisor and department chairperson, should be submitted to the Office of Human Resources.  Such a revised work schedule may include time before or after regular office hours or weekends.  This policy is subject to other University employee benefits and agreements.

If you have question related to the policy, contact Mary Mingenback in the Controller’s Office at extension 5413.
