Head CoachBing Xu begins his third year as the head coach at Emporia State after serving three years as the assistant coach for the Hornets. He is 39-24 in his first two seasons at ESU.
He had a successful inaugural season in which the Hornets went 24-8 and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in school history. The Hornets were ranked in the top ten of the region last season before falling to #1 ranked Truman in the MIAA Tournament.
Xu came to ESU after earning a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration from Columbia College and a master’s degree in business from Palm Beach Atlantic University. While attending college he also served as the assistant coach for the women’s teams both at Palm Beach Atlantic and at Columbia College. Xu was a member of the men’s team at Columbia College for four years.
His coaching experience does not stop in the U.S., Xu has also been
a member or a coach of several teams in China.
The Hornets went 53-44 (.546) in his three years as an assistant. Xu is married to the Hornets’ assistant coach, Ping Wang. The couple has a daughter, Grace.
