September 5, 2009 -- The #4 Emporia State volleyball team moved to 8-0 and have only dropped two sets on the season with a 3-1 win over Central Oklahoma. ESU hit over .300 in two of the four sets as they rolled to a 25-18, 15-25, 25-13, 25-12 win over the Bronchos to go 4-0 at the MSU Invite.
ESU was led by Brianne Boner who had 16 kills on .400 hitting and had a match and season high seven blocks. Arica Shepard finished with her fifth double-double of the season going for 14 kills and 22 digs. Sophomore Megan Lueger had her first career double-double with 11 killsa dn 12 digs on the afternoon. Ting Liu had a well balanced game with 47 assists, seven digs, four blocks and four kills. Amy Byfield had 14 digs the Hornets racked up four service aces as a squad.
The Hornets will stay on the road as they travel to Newman University next week. They will face the Jets at 7:00 p.m. on Sept. 9 from Wichita, Kan.
