Arica Shepard had seven kills on .333 hitting in game one with five digs for the Hornets. She had three kills and a block assist during a 15-3 run that turned aa 4-3 lead into a 19-6 lead for ESU. Shepard had back to back kills to give ESU a 29-19 lead before Amy Bohynker's attack error ended the game at 30-19.
The Hornets jumped out to 8-2 and 7-2 leads in games three and four as they moved to the MIAA Semifinals for the third time five years.
ESU will play #5 Truman at 7:30 p.m. on Friday in Kirksville, Mo. The winner will play the winner of the 5 p.m. match between #6 Washburn and #18 Pittsburg State.
