The Hornets were led by Arica Shepard who had her 16th career 20+ kill match and also a double-double finishing with 20 kills and 10 assists. The effort makes Shepard the new single season record holder for double-double matches with her 27th of the season. Hannah Carter joined Shepard in double figures as she netted 16 kills to go along with six blocks. Ting Liu had 53 assists for the Hornets as they knocked off the ranked Gorillas for the third time this season. Amy Byfield is now within one match of setting a new single season double figure dig match record after coming up with 22, putting her in double figures for the 33rd time this season.
For the Gorillas Sammie Williams had 12 kills, Pamela Cartenga netted 11 and Meagan Montis had ten kills. Sarah Brannock and Emily Vosseler each had 22 assists for the PSU.
The Hornets will now #1 seed Truman for the third time in 14 days. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Saturday from Pershing Arena in Kirksville, Mo.
