October 6, 2007 -- The #23 Hornet volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory over Abilene Christian to finish out the Lady Blues Fall Classic 3-1. The Hornets fell in the first game by a score of 30-24 before rebounding to win the next three games 30-14, 30-25 and 30-24.
Mary Walczuk continued her hot hitting by grabbing 15 kills on .500 hitting. For the week, in all five matches, Walczuk is hitting .514 with 65 kills. Arica Shepard also had double digit kills with 22 in the match only two shy of her season high. She was hoined by Brianne Boner who had 12 kills in the match. Ting Liu had 53 assists to lead all those playing the match, she also finahed with four kills.
The #23 ESU volleyball team beat Oklahoma Panhandle State 3-0 in their third game at the Lady Blues Fall Classic. The Hornets came out firing knocking off the Aggies in game one 30-19, before winning games two and three 30-11 and 30-12.
Mary Walczuk connected on 12 kills in 13 attempts good for a .923 hitting percentage. The Hornets as a squad hit .476 and were led in kills by Arica Shepard who had 16 kills in the match. Ting Liu had 44 assists for the Hornets in the win.
The Hornets will next be action on at Northwest Missouri on October 9. First serve that match is set for 7 p.m. from Marysville, Mo. They will then return home to face Newman University on October 16 with first serve being a 7 p.m. from W L White Auditorium.
