Truman - Nebraska-Omaha Post Game Press Conference

Truman
Jason Skoch:

“I thought that they played very well for themselves. I thought we played great on some things. Overall, I think some people on our team weren’t playing that good, but that was probably the best fight and intensity we’ve had all year, and I’m glad we won that game. I’m glad we were able to play a team like UNO first round so that we wouldn’t get a false sense of greatness, the teams here, they’re just the best defensive team in our conference. If you get back on your heals they will make you pay for it.”

“We did one thing, we did change our line-up so we could match up with one of their hitters, but then they countered it. We did change personnel, one person went from right side to a middle blocker, I think we just played better (this time).”

“UNO is very…. I don’t know the word, they are so unassuming and they are a great serving team. They really aren’t many great serving teams here besides UNO. They don’t let you get in a rhythm with their serves, once you think you’ve got them figured out they drop one in front of you.”

Eli Medina:

“I think we’ve seen that (more intensity) over the last two weeks. We’ve got five seniors on our team. We’ve approached games differently over the last five games even though they were against unranked teams. We’ve been doing a lot of specific things, visualizing any possible thing we can do to have an advantage over the past two weeks. So I felt good going into the game, the warm-up everything felt good.

Nebraska-Omaha
Rose Shires:

“First of all, I think Truman played an extremely aggressive game. I thought they attacked well, I think they played great defense, and mixed up their sets very well. But I would also say that I think my team played very well with them. It’s one of those things where we were with them, Truman made two or three point serves, and it took a lot for us to fight back to get back to within one or two points of them, and then they made the surge again. We were just never able to get the hump, we worked really hard to tie them near the end of the game, and we need to take the lead, to feel like we were in the lead in several of the games. “

“Well, we knew that coming in, that we were not counting on Truman to make any mistakes, and I know nobody played the perfect game. They are a team that plays clean, they don’t do a lot of flashy stuff, but what they do, they do extremely well and extremely clean, and they’re very aggressive with what they do.”

“Our youth definitely showed at the beginning of the year, and we had to battle through a lot of things. I think that about halfway through the season, our senior leadership really stepped up and kind of took the entire team under her wings. She’s done a phenomenal job of directing our comeback. And Annie Rice was actually the major reason why our team was able to get to this point right here in the season. She not only started talking the talk, but she played like what she wanted everybody else to play like.”

Kelli Goesser:

“We can only grow from this game. We just lose one senior, so she has been really good for the team, but we have five juniors that hopefully can do damage next year.”
