Truman advances to championship match

November 22, 2008-Lauren Graybeal had 16 kills on .538 hitting as Truman advanced to the NCAA South Central Regional Finals with a 25-17, 20-25, 25-22, 25-23 victory over Central Missouri in Emporia's White Auditorium. The loss ended the illustrious career of UCM head coach Peggy Martin.
The Bulldogs dominated set one jumping out to an 8-2 lead and the Jennies would never take the lead. The second set was nearly an exact opposite as UCM opened up a 7-2 lead and never trailed. The final two sets were close with three ties and a lead change in the third set. UCM held off TSU on four set points before Graybeal ended it with a kill. Truman led 22-17 in the fourth set before Central went on a 6-1 run to tie the score at 23-23. Lisa Weber recorded a kill and assisted Melissa Keck on the final two points for the Bulldogs.
Truman will now play the winner of the match between West Texas A&M and Emporia State for the regional championship at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
