Emporia State - West Texas A & M Post Game Press Conference

West Texas A & M
Tony Graystone :

"I'll start by congratulating Emporia on a great match. They looked really good tonight and came up with all the points they needed. From my point of view it was a tough one, we let the first set get away from us, the second one got away from us from the very beginning. The third one was just a great game, we got three chances to put it away and just didn't do it. If you give a team like Emporia that many chances, they are going to do it and eventually they got it. My team had an incredible season, they have alot to look forward too. We'll miss our to seniors, but nothing is going to take away from the season we had."

"The only real adjustment we made was in the third set, we just kind of flipped our line-up and gave everyone a different match-up, we put Kayla McKinney in their at server, she's a really good server. We scored alot of points off of first serve so it really worked out well. The message tonight was to stay composed and relaxed and not go after the points so much."

"They are very good, their is not question about it. They have alot of weapons, and one of the best setters in the country. If your ball control isn't their they have more than enough fire power to make you pay. We've played about a dozen ranked teams this year and this is what every one of them has been like."

Natalie Johnson:

"Those are the ones you want to win, after the first game it kind of just started spinning. And we just couldn't seem to get back into it."

"Like coach said we had our chances, it's not like we didn't get out there."

Sara Contraras:

"Yeah, those games that are close are fun, and it's supposed to be fun this time of year. After you lose a close one you think about how you didn't want that one to be over, and you want to carry over how you were playing. We kind of let the second set get away from us, in game three we got back on track but we just let it slip away."

"We had a good run, this obviously isn't where we wanted to end up, it's been a good four years and I don't have any complaints."

Emporia State
Bing Xu:

“I"m so proud of them. They did a great job tonight. Before we played we knew that it was going to be tough, we hadn't played them yet (this year). We saw them play yesterday and knew they were a decent team. Even though tonight we won in three their were battles, battles tonight. But that was the kind of aggresiveness we want to see, it was a good win."

Amy Byfield:

"I think we have to stay focused on this game, we can't focus on the game before or the games coming after."

"We knew going out their that it was going to be hard. But knew we had to want it too. And I'm really happy with the ways things turned out, we seemed to want it more."

Arica Shepard:

"I think it was good for us to play this tough of a game. We know it's going to be a tough game tomorrow, coming into today we knew it would be tough too. Even though we won in three we learned things and tomorrow we need to do the same things."

"I think it's a momentum thing. I think when you win one like that you get up for the next one."

Hannah Carter:

"I think that really helped us coming into the second game to have one the first."

"After we watched them play (last night) I was like wow, I was really nervous coming into tonight."
