FIVE ESU WOMEN EARN USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC HONORS

July 6, 2009-Five Emporia State women's track and field athletes were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.  To qualify for the team the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the NCAA Division II indoor or outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.  

Jaclyn Sill placed 16th in the outdoor 400m after winning her unprecedented third straight MIAA championship in the event.  She has a 3.99 GPA in social science.

Katie Mona placed tenth in the indoor mile run and 14th in the outdoor 1500m after provisionally qualifying in a total of four events combined in the indoor and outdoor season. She has a 3.97 GPA in elementary education.

Christy Weller earned a provisional qualifying mark as part the MIAA and school record setting indoor distance medley relay team. She has a 3.90 GPA in psychology.

Renae Weaver qualified for the outdoor national championships in the long jump.  She has a 3.64 GPA in elementary education.

Jackie Jacobs provisionally qualified for the indoor national championships as part of the school record setting distance medley relay.  She holds a 3.48 GPA in elementary education.

They were among 46 student-athletes named to the women's All-Academic team from the MIAA.  The men's list will be released later this week.
