ESU GETS FIVE PROVISIONALS AT SOONER INVITATIONAL
April 25, 2009-The Emporia State track and field team came home with five provisional qualifying marks from the Sooner Invitational in Norman, Okla. in their final competition before the MIAA Championships.
Jaclyn Sill ran a 55.77 in the women 400m to rank fourth on the Division II charts this season. Connie Philips added another provisional mark in the women’s javelin, throwing 140-7 to place second to Oklahoma’s Katelyn Penner.
Sam Williams was a part of three qualifying efforts for the ESU men. He provisionalled individually with a 10.59 in the 100m and 21.23 in the 200m. He joined Derwin Hall, Josh Schuler and Kenton Lonberger in posting another qualifier in the 400m relay.
ESU begins competition in the MIAA Championships on Sunday at the Multi-events. Brooke Kent, Justine Davenport and Kaylea Goff will compete for the women while Tony Granillo and Cole Davis will compete for the men.
