ESU GETS TWO PROVISIONALS IN CALIFORNIA

April 19, 2009-The Emporia State track and field team came away with five provisional qualifying marks and another school record on Saturday at the VS Athletics Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State.

The mens’ 400m relay team of Derwin Hall, Josh Schuler, Kenton Lonberger and Sam Williams provisionalled and improved on their own school record. The quartet ran 40.87 to win the event and currently rank fifth in the nation in Division II.

Skyler Delmott placed fourth n the 3000m steeplechase in a provisional qualifying time of 9:16.88. It is the fourth fastest time in ESU history and ranks eighth in the nation.

Vincent Howze ran a personal best and provisional qualifier of 52.90 in the 400m hurdles. It is the third best time in the nation this year and third all-time at ESU.

Alex Pyle cleared 6-08.75 for another provisional qualifier as he placed second in the high jump.

Jaclyn Sill was the only women to provisional, running a 56.71 in the 400m.

Josh Honeycutt fouled all three of his attempts in the invitational triple jump at the Mt. SAC Relays.

ESU will be back in action this weekend at the Sooner Invitational in Norman, Okla.
