Complete Results

May 9, 2009-Brooke Kent had an automatic qualifier and the men’s 400m relay team set another school record for Emporia State at the ATG Sports Twilight Qualifier. ESU had a total of 11 provisional and one automatic qualifier at the final meet before the NCAA Championships.

The men’s 400m relay team of Derwin Hall, Josh Schuler, Kenton Lonberger and Sam Williams lowered their own school record to 40.57 and moved up to sixth in the nation. Hall won the 100m at 10.56 to hit a provisional qualifier.

Dustin Andrews and Alex Pyle finished first and second in the high jump with both clearing the provisional qualifying mark. Andrews went over 6-10.75 (2.10m) to move into ninth in the nation, with the second best outdoor clearance in ESU history. Pyle cleared 6-09.50 (2.07m) to move up to 13 th in the national outdoor rankings.

Josh Honeycutt moved up to fifth in the nation with a 24-04.50 (7.43m) long jump. Matt Koelling placed fifth in the triple jump with a 48-01.75 (14.67m) to wrap up the provisional marks in the field for the ESU men.

Skyler Delmott had the other provisional for the men. He ran a 9:19.82 to win the 3000m steeple chase.

Kent bounced back from a somewhat disappointing MIAA Championship meet to win the long jump with the second best mark in ESU history. Her leap of 19-04.75 (5.91m) is an automatic qualifier and ranks fifth in the nation this year. Renae Weaver finished second in the long jump at 18-05.25 (5.62m) to provisionally qualify for nationals as well.

Connie Philips finished second in the javelin with a provisional qualifier. Philips throw of 140-02 (42.72m) was second to Alicia Deshasier’s 171-05 (52.25m) that ranks 11 th in the USA this season among all competitors.

Jaclyn Sill ran another provisional mark with a 56.67 in the 400m, while Katie Mona hit her first provisional with a 4:35.18 in the 1500m.

The Hornets will find out who will be competing in the national championship on Tuesday. The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held in San Angelo, Texas May 21-23 at the LeGrand Sports Complex on the Angelo State University campus.
