HORNET TRACKSTERS PICK UP SEVEN TOP TEN FINISHES AT NEBRASKA TUNE-UP
February 20, 2009-The nationally ranked Emporia State track team sent a limited number of athletes to the Nebraska Tune-up on Friday and came away with seven top ten finishes.
Katie Mona had the top performance for the Hornets, placing fifth in the women’s mile run. Her time of 4:57.38 is the third bet time in ESU history and missed the automatic mark by less than a second. After the conversion for the banked track at the Devaney Center, her time is the eighth best in the nation this year.
The rest of the Hornets, including the majority of the field event competitors, will be in action on Saturday at the KSU Open in Manhattan, Kan. ESU men’s basketball players and high jump All-Americans Dustin Andrews and Alex Pyle are scheduled to make their 2009 track & field debuts on Saturday.
