May 13, 2008—A total of ten Emporia State student-athletes have been accepted to compete in 11 events at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif.
Brooke Kent has been accepted in three events while Jonel Rossbach and Kenton Lonberger have each been accepted in two events.
Rossbach is currently ranked in the top four in the two events she is entered in. She is third in the 10,000m and fourth in the 5000m. She was not entered in the other three events in which she was provisionally or automatically qualified for.
Jennifer Robinson is ranked fourth in the high jump but is just one centimeter behind the national leader.
Connie Philips is ranked eighth in the javelin and earned All-American honors in the event as a freshman in 2005.
Kent may have the hardest road to earning All-American status. She is ranked 12 th in the long jump, 20 th in the 100m and 21 st in the 200m.
The high jump has three Hornet men accepted to the national meet. Dustin Andrews is ranked fifth going in while Alex Pyle is tenth and Craig Saalfeld is ranked 13 th in the event.
Josh Honeycutt is ranked fourth in the triple jump and will be joined by 13 th ranked Matt Koelling.
Lonberger is ranked tenth in the 200m and 21 st in the 100m.
Final declared entries will be announced later this week and will have an effect on the rankings going into the national meet. The national championships will be hosted by Mt. SAC at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
