Live Results

March 15, 2008—Emporia State will bring home a total of six All-Americans and a pair of top 25 team finishes from the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the Minnesota State-Mankato over the weekend.

The ESU men placed 11th in the team competition, led by three All-American performances in the high jump. Sophomores Alex Pyle and Dustin Andrews were two of three athletes to clear 6-10.25 (2.09m), however they were placed third and fourth based on number of misses. Pyle and Andrews were both members of the MIAA Tournament runners-up men’s basketball team. Junior Craig Saalfeld rounded out the scoring for ESU with an eighth place finish. It is the first time in school history ESU has three All-Americans in a single event at the indoor championships.

Freshman Kenton Lonberger earned All-American honors by finishing fifth with a time of 21.94 in the 200m finals. His time of 21.80 in the prelims broke his own school record set at the MIAA Championships two weeks ago. He failed to advance in the 60m, running a 6.87 to place 13 th overall.

Freshman Josh Honeycutt was the other Hornet to compete for the men, but fouled on his three attempts in the triple jump.

The ESU women tied for 23 rd in the team standings. Senior Jonel Rossbach ran 17:16.91 to earn All-American honors with a sixth place finish in the 5000m.

Sophomore Brooke Kent jumped 18-05.00 (5.61m) for a sixth place finish in the long jump to fill out ESU’s scoring. Kent also placed 14 th in the 60m dash and did not advance to the finals.

Sophomore Jennifer Robinson cleared 5-05.00 (1.65m) to place 13 th in the high jump.

Emporia State will open the outdoor season in earnest on March 29 at the UT-Arlington Bobby Lane Invitational.
