ESU HAS EIGHT TOP THREE FINISHES AND THREE PROVISIONALS AT PRAIRIE WOLF INVITE
February 22, 2008-Jonel Rossbach and Sloane Kern each won individual championships to lead Emporia State at the Prairie Wolf Invitational hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan at UNL’s Devaney Center.
Rossbach won the 3000m by 23 seconds in 9:55.18 to continue her outstanding senior campaign.
Brooke Kent turned in another all around performance with a provisional qualifier and runner-up finish in the long jump. She was finished seventh in the 60m dash and 12 th in the 60m hurdles. Her time of 7.81 in the prelims of the 60m is the fourth fastest time in ESU history.
Jaclyn Sill ran a 57.79 to finish second in the 400m. Her time is the fifth fastest all-time at ESU and is the fastest time in the MIAA this season.
Kenton Lonberger had another provisional qualifier with a third place time of 6.86 in the 60m dash. He also finished second in the 200m dash with a time of 22.09.
Doug Marshall earned another provisional for ESU in the triple jump. His mark of 46-11.75 (14.32m) placed second in the meet.
Sloane Kern picked up the lone championship for the Hornet men in the 600m run. His time of 1:22.27 nipped Northern State’s Bill Cameron by .6 seconds.
A small group of ESU athletes will compete at the KSU Open on Saturday. The MIAA Championships are scheduled for next weekend, February 29 and March 1 at Missouri Southern’s Leggett & Platt Center in Joplin, Mo.
