December 7, 2007--The high jump portion of the KSU Carol Robinson Pentathlon was especially kind to Emporia State on Friday. ESU's Craig Saalfeld and Jennifer Robinson both provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in the high jump in Manhattan on Friday.
Saalfeld went 6-09 in the high jump, the fourth of five events for the men. Overall he placed seventh with 3,404 points. ESU's Roger Bertsche placed eighth overall with 2,684 points.
Robinson high jumped 5-06.5 in the second of five events for the women. It is the third best indoor high jump in ESU women's track & field history. Overall she placed seventh with 2,800 points. Ryan Green was tenth overall for ESU with 2,068 points despite fouling all of her attempts in the long jump.
The rest of the ESU track & field team will begin their season on Saturday at the KSU Allcomers Meet in Manhattan, Kan.
