ESU Track and Field

VOGELSBERG NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT
EMPORIA, KAN. (June 7, 2007)-
Emporia State All-American Andy Vogelsberg has been named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District performer by the College Sports Information Director’s of America. He is the seventh Hornet to be honored on the Academic All-District level this school year.

Vogelsberg finished fourth at the 2007 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships to earn his fourth straight All-American honor in the javelin. He won the 2006 national championship after finishing fourth as a sophomore and third as a freshman. His throw of 232-10 set the MIAA championship meet record and was the best throw by a Division II athlete this year.

He was a finalist for the Ken B. Jones Award as the top male student-athlete in the MIAA this year. He holds a 3.30 GPA in Earth Science.

ESU has produced 14 Academic All-Americans since 2000 to rank ninth among all NCAA Division II schools. ESU has had at least one Academic All-American each year since 1999.
