Hornet Softball Wins Two on Day Two of AAUW Showcase
March 14, 2009 -- The ESU softball team earned two wins on the second day of the AAUW Softball Showcase in Emporia. They earned a 4-1 victory over Augustana and a 2-0 win over Southwest Baptist. Even though ESU only had 11 in their first 18 games they have had five in the three games of the AAUW Showcase.
In the first game ESU got three runs in the final two innings on the way to a 4-1 win. Abby Hughes had her fourth home run of the year while Miranda Campbell added her third of the year. Hughes added two RBI in the win for ESU while Jennifer Heerey picked up her seventh victory in the circle.
In the second game ESU got runs in the third and fourth frame to knock off SBU 2-0 at home. Campbell and Linda Ketter had the RBI for ESU while Megan Dennis earned her sixth win.
ESU will play Southwest Oklahoma and Tarelton State in tomorrow's action beginning at 10 a.m. from the Trusler Sports Complex.
