HORNETS RANKED #25 IN NFCA PRESEASON POLL

January 28, 2009-The Emporia State softball team, who have played in two of the last three NCAA Division II National Championship Games, have been ranked #25 to open the season in the NFCA Division II Preseason Top 25. The Hornets will open the season with nine of their first 11 games against teams that received votes in the preseason poll.

Last season ESU was 13-5 against teams that are receiving votes in this year’s preseason poll including two wins over #3 St. Edward’s and #9 Winona State, one each over #5 Francis Marion, and #7 C.W. Post and three wins over #19 Central Missouri.

The Hornets return six position players, a starting pitcher and starting designated player from last year's national runner-up team.
