HORNETS SPLIT ON THE ROAD IN ST. LOUIS

UMSL 2, ESU 1
March 9, 2009 -- ESU split games on the weekend at Missouri-St. Louis, defeating Wisconsin-Parkside 8-0 and falling to host UMSL 2-1 on Sunday. ESU pitchers only allowed five hits between the two games while their hitters collected nine hits.
In game one, ESU scored all eight runs in the first two innings on their way to a run rule win. Jennifer Dace led the way with a three run double in the second inning. Megan Dennis earned her fifth win allowing only one hit over five innings while striking out six.
In game two, ESU had three errors as they fell to host UMSL 2-1. Abby Hughes had the Hornets lone RBI on a home run in the first inning. Jennifer Heery pitched six innings allowing only four hits and striking out five.
ESU will be at home for the first time this weekend when they host their spring tournament at the Trusler Sports Complex starting on March 13 in Emporia.
