April 3, 2009 -- The Emporia State softball team swept past Northwest Missouri 12-8 and 5-4 on Saturday on a windy day in Maryville, Mo. The Horents hit eight home runs over the two games, nearly half their home run output for the season.
In game one Abby Hughes, Aubree Brattin, Jenna Potter and Jill Peters all homered for the Hornets in a 12-8 win. Jennifer Dace finished two for three with four RBI while Brattin drove in three runs. Megan Dennis pitched all seven innings striking out five to pick up her tenth win.
In the night cap Hughes and Ketter added home runs while Dace cleared the fences twice in the ballgame. Dace finished with three of the Hornets five RBI. Jennifer Heerey pitched 7.0 innings and struck out five to earn her 12th win of the season.
ESU will return to the field on Monday, April 5 when they take on Missouri Western at the Trusler Sports Complex.
