#11 ESU KNOCKS OFF #9 ST. MARY'S 5-4
February 7, 2008 -- The #11 Emporia State softball team opened the season with a 5-4 win over #9 St. Mary's of Texas in the CBS Insurance Classic in Abilene, Texas. Samantha Sheeley went the distance for ESU in the circle.
Shelbe Hughes was two for two with two RBI including what turned out to be the game winner in the top of the seventh. Miranda Campbell went 3-3 for the Hornets and drove in a run while scoring two.
The Hornets will face host Abilene Christian today at 4 p.m.
