April 2, 2008-Miranda Campbell was four for six with four RBI and her league leading 12 home run of the year as #22 Emporia State swept Missouri Western 7-2 and 3-0 on Wednesday night at the Trusler Sports Complex.
The Hornets had five doubles in the first four innings of the opener as ESU jumped out to a 7-1 lead. April Huddleston was two for four with three RBI and a double while Jennifer Dace went two for four with two doubles and two RBI. After MWSU took the lead on an unearned run in the top of the first, Huddleston's RBI single tied the score in the second. Campbell's RBI double in the third gave ESU the lead for good. Samantha Sheeley went the distance, giving up just two hits and two unearned runs while striking out seven.
Campbell gave ESU the lead in the nightcap with a two run homer in the bottom of the first. She got her third RBI of the game in the third on a single to right. That was all the offense Megan Dennis would need as she won her sixth straight game. She scattered three hits and struck out six as she ran her streak of consecutive scoreless innings to 24.2 over her last five appearances.
