#19 HORNETS SPLIT WITH MSU-MOORHEAD

March 28, 2008-Emporia State’s Samantha Sheeley tied her career high with 15 strike outs in game one as the #19 Hornets split with Minn. State-Moorhead on Friday night at the Trulser Sports Complex. ESU won game one 5-2 before falling 2-1 in the nightcap.

The Dragons took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second of the matinee on a two out homer by the eight hole hitter, Melissa Saylor. Linda Ketter but the Hornets on the board with a leadoff homer in the fourth and Miranda Campbell gave ESU the lead with her team leading 11 th round tripper with two outs in the inning.

The Dragon’s eight-hole hitter, this time Lacey Bunkelman, provided the offense with a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning of the night cap. The Hornets answered with a single run in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Jenna Potter. Brittany Norris took the loss while Megan Dennis provided 2.2 innings of shutout action in the circle for ESU

The Hornets and Dragons will wrap-up their three game series with a single game at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
