March 2, 2008- The #11 Emporia State softball team defeated Southern Indiana 6-5 in their final game at the Cougar Classic hosted by SIU-Edwardsville on Sunday.  The Hornets fell to defending national champion SIU-Edwardsville 9-2 in their only loss of the weekend.

Angela Mahan was three for four with a home run in the loss to the #1 ranked Cougars.  ESU stranded nine runners in the game, including four at third base.

Miranda Campbell had hit her team leading sixth home run of the season to highlight a four run fifth inning in ESU's win over Southern Indiana. 

April Huddleston had the game winning RBI in two wins for ESU on Saturday. ESU defeated UMSL 4-2 and Southern Indiana 3-2 .

The Hornets are scheduled to play five games at the Missouri Western Crossover Tournament next weekend in St. Joseph, Mo.  ESU's first scheduled game is against Augustana on March 8 at 11 a.m.
