May 16, 2008--Miranda Campbell doubled and scored the game's only run while Samantha Sheeley tossed a three-hit shut out as #6 Emporia State defeated Francis Marion 1-0 in the NCAA Division II Softball Championship Tournament.
Campbell doubled to lead off the second inning and April Huddleston sacrificed her to third. Shelbe Hughes then squeezed Campbell home on a bunt up the first base line.
That was all Sheeley would need as she tossed her 11th shutout of the season and tied the ESU record with her 30th win of the season.
ESU will take on #22 St. Edwards at 3:00 p.m. If the Hornets win they will force a rematch with the Hilltoppers at 10 a.m. on Saturday for the right to play for the national championship.
