February 17, 2008--The #11 Emporia State softball team defeated #5 Angelo State 6-4 to wrap-up their first day of action at the ASU Blue & Gold Classic on Sunday in San Angelo, Texas. The Hornets had dropped their first two games of the day, losing to Incarnate Word 6-5 in eight innings and West Texas A&M 5-4.

Miranda Campbell was five for 11 on the day with two home runs and six RBI to pace the ESU offense.

Samantha Sheeley went 1-1 in the circle, taking the loss in relief in the international tiebreaker against Incarnate Word. She went the distance in the win over Angelo State, giving up four runs on three hits with 11 strikeouts.

The Hornets are back in action on Monday in San Angelo. They will play Cameron at 10 a.m. and have a rematch with ASU at 12 noon.
