HORNET SOCCER FALLS AT UCM IN LAST ROAD MATCH
October 24, 2009 -- Emporia State dropped their final road match of the season, 4-0 at Central Missouri on Saturday afternoon.
The Hornets fell behind early as the Jennies' Melanie Hall scored 34 seconds into the match. After the quick score, neither team scored the remainder of the half as ESU survived 13 more shots by UCM in the opening frame.
After intermission, Cara Hannahane scored in the 49th minute to put UCM up 2-0. Hennahane would get another goal in the 59th minute and Hall wrapped up the scoring with her ninth goal of the season in the 78th minute.
ESU was outshot 27-4 on the afternoon and 16-1 on shots on goal. Nikki Smitz had 12 saves for the Hornets on the day.
The Hornets will play their final four games at ESU Pitch beginning on Thursday against Missouri Western. The match will be one of several athletic events during Homecoming week at ESU.
