HORNET SOCCER SHUTS OUT MISSOURI WESTERN
September 17, 2009 -- The Emporia State soccer team earned their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory on the road over Missouri Western. The Hornets were actually outshot 16-10 on the night but held the Griffons to only three shots on goal.
Ashley Hill scored the game winning tally, her third goal of the season, in the 47th minute. Sarah Anderson added her second assist of the year and finished with two shots on goal. Nikki Schmitz had three saves and recorded the Hornets first shut-out since a 1-0 win at Missouri Western on Oct. 30, 2008.
ESU will travel to Truman on Saturday, Sept 19 for a 1 p.m. match from Kirksville, Mo.
