HORNET SOCCER FALLS 2-1 AT MISSOURI SOUTHERN

October 1, 2009 -- The Emporia State soccer team fell 2-1 at Missouri Southern on Thursday. ESU was outshot 24-15 on the evening, but only 9-8 in shots on goal.
The Lions struck first in the match scoring in the 26th minute on a Michelle Dizma goal. Sarah Anderson answered in the 48th minute with her second goal in as many matches as Holli Schletbaum added her first assist of the year. Alicia Vonderheid got the go ahead for MSSU in the 69th minute.
Anderson finished with five shtos, three of which were on goal while defender Jessica Decker added four shots of her own. Katrina Goscha allowed one goal and made two saves before being relieved by Nikki Schmitz in the 41st minute. Schmitz allowed only one goal while corralling five saves on the night.
ESU will next travel to Nebraska-Omaha on Oct. 8 for a 4 p.m. kick-off.
