HORNETS FALLS IN FINAL HOME GAME OF THE SEASON
October 20, 2007-- The Hornet soccer team fell 2-0 to Missouri Western in their final home game of the season. For ESU Lauren Cathey and Kylee McCullough each had two shots while Alicia Smith, Allison Maxwell and Adrianne Coburn each added a shot on goal. Megan Martin finished the match with seven saves.
MWSU broke a scoreless tie five minutes into the match when Meigan Soo bent a shot past Martin for a 1-0 lead. Emporia State's best chance came when Lauren Cathey beat the goalkeeper in the second period, but got off a shot that was just wide. Michelle Polk added the final talley for the Griffons with an unassisted goal in the 86th minute.
The game was the final one at the home for the Hornets who will finish their season on the road. Next weekend ESU will travel to Southwest Baptist on Oct. 26 and Missouri Southern on Oct. 27.
