HORNETS DROP TURNPIKE TUSSLE
October 4, 2007 -- The ESU soccer team lost to Washburn 2-0 on Thursday night at Yaeger Stadium in Topeka.

The Hornets trailed 1-0 at the half on a Jessica Mainz goal in the 27th minute. The Lady Blues would get their second goal in the 60th minute on another goal from Mainz.

Despite getting outshot 27-1, the Hornets only surrendered eight shots on goal. Megan Martin, the MIAA's leader in saves, added six more stops in the match. She now has 90 saves on the season to rank fourth in single season saves at ESU.

ESU is back in action on Saturday at Drury. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.in Springfield, Mo.
