SAAC Community Service

Fall 2008   Student Athlete Advisory Committee has been in the giving spirit lately. The committee wanted to help stock up the food pantry and warm clothing prior to the holiday season. The Student Athlete Advisory Committee has had three different service events in November.

First, door to door canned food drive. Each team had an area in the Emporia community to pick up food door to door. 2011 pounds of food was collected and delivered to the Salvation Army Food Pantry.

Second, the Student Athlete Advisory Committee asked each of their teammates to donate cash to help buy food. In this effort, they raised $581.00 which was given to Abundant Harvest Food Kitchen. "We wanted to give to an organization that reaches out to help families and individuals in the Emporia Community", Shelley Marsh, SAAC president.

Third, the Student Athlete Advisory Committee accepted warm clothing at the basketball game on November, 25th. Fifty-seven articles of warm clothing were collected and donated to Emporia Rescue Mission.
