October 10, 2009-Pittsburg State used the big play on the way to a 44-14 victory over Emporia State on Saturday in Pittsburg, Kan.

Kendall Fisher scored on touchdown receptions of 60, 92 and 23 yards as PSU's first four touchdowns all went for more than 20 yards.

ESU failed to convert on two turnovers and after a blocked field goal and had two potential touchdowns called back by penalty.

Tyler Eckenrode was 14 of 34 for 191 yards in his second career start while Kevin Smart had 56 yards rushing on ten carries and a touchdown. Defensively Blake Ringwall led ESU with 12 tackles. Nathan Linsey had nine tackles and an interception.

The Hornets are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 17 when they play host to Northwest Missouri. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. on Jones Field at Welch Stadium. Fans that attend the #8 ESU volleyball teams match with Washburn in White Auditorium on Friday night can redeem their ticket stub for a $4 general admission ticket to Saturday's football game.
