NOTE: This is the first in a series of six sketches of the ESU Hornet Football Positions. The next one will be with the linebackers on Monday, Aug. 10.

August 7, 2009-The defensive line will open the 2009 training camp interview schedule for Emporia State on Friday, August 7 outside the Lakeview Cafeteria.

The Hornets return four players on the defensive line that have seen considerable time over the last two years, but after that the back ups are largely unproven.

Angelo Webb earned second-team All-MIAA honors last season after ranking fifth in the league with 4.5 sacks. He went to school part time in the spring to preserve his final year of eligibility.

Daniel Webb had 4.5 tackles for loss among his 21 stops on the season.

Casey Finlayson added 2.0 TFL in his 19 tackles last year.

Keith Maples provides size in the middle of the line and is the only senior besides Angelo Webb in the unit.

Mark Mintken had three tackles in five games while battling injuries last season.

Harold Ayodele is a 6-1, 339 pound transfer from Tennessee State that is expected to solidify the middle of the line.
