April 18, 2008-Adrian Abner scored from a yard out in the first quarter to provide the only scoring as the Black Team defeated the White Team 7-0 in the ESU Spring Football Game on Friday night on Jones Field at Welch Stadium. The game was played with a running clock for the final three quarters of action.

Abner led the Black Team with 32 yards rushing on ten carries and added 27 yards on two receptions. Seville Ko led all rushers with 37 yards on nine carries for the White Team and caught one pass for seven yards.

Quarterbacks Zach Rampy and Andre Sloan El played for both teams and went a combined 18 of 38 for 189 yards. Sloan El was six of nine for 61 yards and an interception while playing for the Black Team while Rampy was five of ten for 61 yards on the Black Team as well.

Andre Maupin led all receivers with five catches for 62 for the White Team. Tracy Hageman had three catches for 41 yards to lead the Black Team.

The Hornets open the season for real on August 30, 2008 against Western State (Colo.) College at Jones Field at Welch Stadium. ESU will play four of the first five games at home and have a total of six home games in 2008.
