ESU MEN TAKE FIFTH AT BORDER STATES CHAMPIONSHIPS
October 6, 2007- Skyler Delmott placed tenth to lead the ESU men to a fifth place finish at the Border States Championships. The ESU women placed 15th running without top runner Jonel Rossbach. Meanwhile, Michael Stephens led three Hornets in the top 11 at the McPherson Bulldog Special.
"Freshman Sloane Kern had his best race as a Hornet, finishing second for our team," said head coach Dave Harris. "We need that kind of contribution from Sloane who we expected to be a difference maker this year. Skyler's top ten performance showed his improvement over last years race where he finished in the 30's."
"The women just need to gain experience in big races," said Harris "I did not do a good job in preparing them mentally to race this weekend - with Jonel Rossbach not running I have to get their focus on the strategy of the race."
The Hornets were scheduled to compete at the Cowley Tiger Duals next weekend, but may not send full teams in order to train for the MIAA Championships.
