Assistant Coach
Ali Sprague

Former Lady Hornet Ali Sprague begins her fourth year as a full assistant with the program. She is in her tenth year at Emporia State after spending two years on the Lady Hornet staff as a student and graduate assistant coach and four years as a player.

“Ali Sprague has been a part of four MIAA championships either as a player or coach in the Lady Hornet program,” said Schneider. “No one understands our philosophy or my personality as it relates to coaching better than Coach Sprague. Her ability to communicate with our current players, as well as potential recruits, from all perspectives is invaluable.”

Sprague was a member of Schneider’s first recruiting class as head coach of the Lady Hornets. She ended her career with 784 points and 411 rebounds and is ranked fourth in career free throw percentage at ESU, connecting on a .786 clip from the line for her career.

Sprague started as a freshman at ESU and will be remembered for her tenacious attitude on the court. She was a member of three MIAA regular season and postseason tournament championship teams at ESU. She played in three regional championship games, two Elite Eights and a Final Four with the Lady Hornets. She earned second-team academic all-district honors as a senior.

Originally from Parsons, Kan., Sprague is a graduate of Labette County High School. She set LCHS records for career points and rebounds.

Sprague earned her bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from ESU in 2003 and her master's degree from ESU in 2005.
