MIAA PRESEASON POLLS RELEASED
October 27, 2009 -- The Emporia State women's basketball team was picked first in the both the media and coach's MIAA Preseason Polls released today. The ESU men are picked third by the coaches and fourth by the media their poll.
The #7 Lady Hornets are picked first in both the media and coaches poll this season. They are coming off last season's MIAA Championship, their second straight, and seventh overall. They have made 11 overall appearances in the NCAA Tournament twice finishing at the NCAA Division II Final Four. They went 26-6 last season and return three starters from last season including All-MIAA performer Cassondra Boston.
The #7 ESU women open their year in exhibition play at Kansas on Nov. 8. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Lawrence, Kan.

The Hornet men are picked to finish third in the coaches poll and were picked fourth by the MIAA media. ESU was picked eighth in the poll last season, but finished third in the league. The Hornets have made two NCAA tournament appearances since joining the NCAA in 1992. They went 18-10 last season and lost in the first round of the MIAA tournament.
The Hornets will being play with their alumni game this Saturday at 7 p.m. from W. L. White Auditorium.
