February 4, 2009-Cassondra Boston scored 20 points and became the 24th Lady Hornet to reach 1,000 career points as #4 Emporia State defeated Central Missouri 93-69 on Wednesday in White Auditorium.
The Lady Hornets used a 12-0 run to jump out to a 16-4 lead with 13:53 left in the first half and would take a 40-29 lead into the locker room. The Jennies would get as close as seven points in the second half but ESU would ten three pointers in the second half to move to 19-2 on the year.
In addition to her 20 points, Boston had a game high six assists and added two steals. She was joined in double figures by Andrea Leiker with 15 points, Sophia Lenard with 14 and Ida Edwards with 12 points. Lenard had a career high five steals as ESU forced 25 turnovers on the night.
The Lady Hornets will begin a three game road trip on Saturday at Neb.-Omaha. Tip-off from Sapp Fieldhouse in Omaha is set for 1:30 p.m.
NOTES:
Boston is now ranked 23rd in career scoring at ESU with 1,018 points.
Leiker moved into 20th in career scoring at ESU with 1,058 points.
