January 3, 2009-Southwest Baptist used a 13-0 run to overcome a 12 point deficit on their way to an 86-73 upset of #9 Emporia State in White Auditorium on Saturday night. SBU converted 13 of 15 free throws in the final 3:47 to secure the win.
Andrea Leiker and Sophia Lenard each scored 14 points to lead ESU while Courtney Creed scored 18 to lead SBU.
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 7 when they play host to Missouri Southern.
NOTES:
SBU was also the team that snapped ESU's MIAA record 62 game home court winning streak in 2001.
ESU maintained a piece of the MIAA lead as #2 Washburn fell to Central Missouri 79-77 in overtime on Saturday as well.
